UPND WELCOMES NULLIFICATION OF MKUSHI NORTH CONSTITUENCY SEAT

MKUSHI UPND district secretary for administrative Affairs, LishomoNalishiwa, says his party is overjoyed with the verdict that ruled in favour of their parliamentary candidate Topson Kunda’ s petition.

Mr. Nalishiwa says the UPND supporters are treating the verdict as a victory following the court’s  ruling to nullify  the Patriotic Front candidate Christopher Chibuye’s  victory as Mkushi North Member of Parliament.

In an interview in Mkushi, Mr Nalishiwa has advised the ruling party’s supporters to avoid incidences that might provoke further rivalry with  PF supporters, saying law and order must be respected.

Kabwe-based Judge Isaac Kamwendo passed the ruling that nullified MrChibuye’s election as Mkushi North MP on Wednesday, following a petition by Kunda.

Meanwhile, Mkushi District PF chairperson Ebert Kunda had hinted that his [arty is persuading Mr Chibuye to appeal against this verdict by opting to use the Constitutional court to seek Redress.

During the August 12, 2021 general elections, Mr Chibuye had polled 16, 459 votes against Mr Kunda who got 14, 813 votes, leading to the UPND candidate to petition the results. – ZANIS
