THE dissolved Kennedy Kamba led Lusaka Province executive committee has pleaded with party president, Edgar Lungu to intervene and have the decision rescinded for the betterment of the party.
Lusaka Province acting youth chairperson Kelvin Kaunda said there was need for President Lungu to intervene and help resolve the internal wrangles for the sake of unity.
In an interview, Mr Kaunda said as a leader, President Lungu should facilitate for a round table meeting between the party leadership and members of the dissolved provincial executive committee.
“Our appeal is that the leadership should facilitate a dialogue process that will bring together the party stakeholders involved and establish a way forward.
“We know that the president has powers to delegate but, there is need for him to intervene and bring together stakeholders involved including those with divergent views so that an amicable solution is found,” Mr Kaunda said.
He said Mr Lungu and other party leaders must also listen to the members of the dissolved provincial executive committee and find a way forward rather than discarding them without being heard.
“There is need for us to strike a compromise and be able to dialogue. The only way to resolve issues in this 21st century is through dialogue. This issue of, ‘I know it all’ will not help the party moving forward.
“The only thing that will help the party move forward is when those with divergent views are allowed to sit on a round table and speak to each other. And this calls for humility by all those involved,” he said.
Mr Kaunda said this was the time for the PF membership to unite in readiness for the 2026 general elections.
He said divisions would just weaken PF and give an advantage to the ruling party in 2026.
“This is the time for us to be as one, let’s unite for us to go for the elective convention and elections in unity and harmony,” Mr Kaunda said.
Last Wednesday, the provincial executive committee was dissolved by PF acting Secretary-General Nickson Chilangwa for allegedly insulting Mr Lungu.
Mr Chilangwa also announced that the PF central committee had suspended Mr Kamba for gross misconduct and fanning division in the party.
