ZAMBIAN exports Fashion Sakala and Enock “Computer” Mwepu registered wins on Boxing Day as Glasgow Rangers and Brighton and Hove Albion outshined St Mirren and Brentford in their respective matches.
Sakala came off the bench to play the last 20 minutes game as Rangers beat St Mirren 2-0 to open a six-point lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership table.
Sakala replaced Romanian forward Ianis Hagi in the 68th minute and was on hand to ensure the defending champions grinded out a vital result at Ibrox Stadium.
Meanwhile, Mwepu registered his first Premier League assist after setting up Leandro Trossard with a brilliant pass for Brighton’s opener in the 2-0 victory over Brentford on Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, Leicester City have confirmed that striker Patson Daka will not be available for the next three weeks after picking an injury.
The in-form Zambian speedster as he is known by Leicester City fans missed Leicester’s 6-3 bashing by Manchester City on Boxing Day.
Daka has been in excellent form over recent months and has seven goals and four assists from just nine starts to his name.
The former Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos striker was seen to be limping when he was brought off against Liverpool in midweek.
His injury comes as a concern to coach Brendan Rodgers who is scheduled to miss Nigerian star Kelechi Ihinacho who is heading off for the Africa Cup of Nations kicking off next month in Cameroon.
Chipolopolo defender Kabaso Chongo started for TP Mazembe in their goalless draw with Maniema in the Congolese Vodacom Ligue at the Joseph Kabila Stadium in Kindu-Port-Empain.
Defender Tandi Mwape and midfielder Rainford Kalaba were not involved as Mazembe maintained top spot on the table with 38 points, six better than second-placed Vita Club.
In Morocco, Clatous Chota Chama assisted Youssef Alfahli’s goal in the 46th minute before the hosts levelled courtesy of an Oussama Lamlioui goal in the 79th minute as RS Berkane drew 1-1 with SC Chabab Mohammedia in Round 14 of the Botola Pro Inwi.
