Power, Nkana fight back


…Buffaloes, Eagles and Nkwazi drop points

KITWE rivals Nkana and Power Dynamos where the biggest winners in midweek after they both came from behind to secure 2-1 victories ahead of their much fancied local derby scheduled for Sunday.
After going down to Tapson Kaseba’s first half goal, Nkana scored two goals in injury time to beat Buildcon and bag three points at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Lyson Thole and Bwalya Kasondo scored the crucial goal which handed Nkana the win and propelled them to fifth position on the 18-team Super League table with 22-points on par with Power Dynamos who moved to third after the win in Solwezi.
A brace from Tranquiline Mwepu maintained Power Dynamos winning streak after they had gone down to Bruce Musakanya’s goal which had given Kansanshi Dynamos the lead.
Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes missed a chance to open an eight-point lead after giving up a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Forest Rangers in an early kick off at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Martin Njovu had given Buffaloes the lead after he rose high to head in Robin Siame cross in the 24th minute.
Friday Samu doubled their lead after he scored his 12th goal of the season, sending goal keeper Allan Chibwe the wrong way from the penalty spot won five minutes after the half hour mark when Forest defender Cedric Deugou fouled Siame in the box.
However Buffaloes gave up the comfortable lead to draw 2-2 after Zimbabwean international Thomas Chideu scored a second half brace to rescue a point for Forest Rangers.
Meanwhile, Nkwazi recorded their fourth consecutive defeat following a 1-0 beating by Indeni FC in the second match of the double header at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
A second half goal from Mathew Tolopa gifted David Chilufya his first win as Indeni FC coach and propelled the Ndola club to 14th on the Super League table with 15 points.
In the early kick off at Edwin Imboela Stadium, striker Albert Kangwanda scored in the 50th minute to cancel out Amit Shamenda’s first half goal for Kafue Celtics and Green Eagles to share the points after 90 minutes.
Prison Leopards moved to 10th on the Super League table after beating struggling Konkola Blades 2-0 at President Stadium in Kabwe.
First half strikes from Lungson Kapumbu and Conlyde Luchanga gave Leopards the crucial win which propelled them to 19 points.
