EGYPTIAN outfit Ismaily FC have confirmed that Zambian striker Justin Shonga has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Ismaily accused the 25-year-old former Nkwazi FC striker, of failing to tick since he joined the Egyptians two months ago.
“Al-Ismaili terminated its contract with the Zambian Shonga by mutual consent. The club’s board of directors is looking forward to the inclusion of new players at a high level during the winter Mercato to return the team to its normal position and achieve the aspirations of its ancient fans,” the club said in a statement.
“Al-Darawish had signed with Shonga during the last summer transfers for three seasons, coming from the South African club Cape Town City, but he only played with the team in matches for 100 minutes and failed to score or contribute to any goals.”, it is also alleged that Shonga terminated his contract with the Egyptian Premier league side due to unpaid salaries.
According to reports, a settlement has been concluded between the two parties and in the event of default, the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber will be the next recourse of action for the player and his agents. Shonga only joined the Yellows last October on a free transfer after a productive few years in South Africa with Cape Town City, Tshakhuma, and Orlando Pirates.
Shonga made just four appearances for Ismaily, starting twice against Al Ahly and most recently Smouha, but couldn’t provide any goal contributions as the club collected just two points from their opening seven league games.
Shonga becomes the second foreign player to leave Ismaily this week after Benson Shilongo went “AWOL.”
