By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE UPND has been warned to stop  politics of  retribution against the Patriotic Front because some of their  members have committed atrocities, including murder but  gone scot-free.

PF senior member, Chishimba  Kambwili said yesterday   said the issue of retribution was bad because there were a number of atrocities which were committed by UPND members who even killed but they were still scot free.

Mr Kambwili was commenting on the  arrest of PF member Max Chongu, which he described as misplaced and clear indication that the government just wants to fix the PF because they were looking at cases that transpired four years ago.

He said individuals like Max could have made mistakes but that the level of vengeance being portrayed by the current government was scary.

“It is shocking that we are looking at cases that happened in 2017 when Max was accused of attacking two UPND cadres in Northmead,” he said.

Mr Kambwili said that there was need to emulate the late Michael Sata who despite him being mistreated by the MMD to the point of being banished from  entering  the Copperbelt ,   never avenged when he became president.

He said that when in opposition Mr Sata faced a number of challenges at the hands of the MMD who made his life hell but that when the PF came into power he did not persecute his enemies.

Mr Kambwili said the path the current government was taking was a wrong one and that there was need to stop the vindictiveness for the sake of peace.

“The president categorically said that his ascension to power was a sigh of fresh air and that Zambians would do away with petty politics,’’ he said.

He urged the UPND not to make the same mistake that other governments made and called on them to be different.

Mr Kambwili said that the people of Zambia were very expectant of the UPND Government who promised to  fix the economy rather than settling political scores which they were fighting using investigative wings.
