GOVERNMENT has reduced fees for PCR Covid-19 travel certificates from K1500 to K800.
Ministry of Health spokesperson, Abel Kabalo, says the decision was made after various submissions from stakeholders.
Dr. Kabalo has stated that the ministry has no immediate intentions to reduce the fees further because it is a requirement for other countries in the region.
Meanwhile southern African cross border traders’ secretary general Jacob Makambwe says the K800 reduction is still high for cross border traders who have to pay other obligation fees to transport their goods.
He says it will be fair for the ministry to set a special fee for traders who travel frequently in order to help them stabilize their businesses.
