ZAMBIA will never develop if the government continues dwelling on perceived past mistakes that were committed by the past regime because people are waiting for them to start acting on what they promised, National Democratic Congress (NDC) faction leader Saboi Imboela has said.
Ms. Imboela said that there was a reason why the people of Zambia kicked out the PF and the government needed to work on those problems that led to the previous regime to be kicked out.
She said that it was unfortunate that close to Five months after UPND formed the government they have continued to blame everything on the previous regime, a thing that the people of Zambia already knew.
Ms. Imboela said that UPND came into power under the slogan `bally will fix It’ meaning they already knew the problems AND they were coming with solutions to fix the problem.
“Telling the Zambia people the mistakes of the passed government wasn’t the Solution,” Ms. Imboela said.
She said that the negative mantra that was being propelled by the UPND government about the perceived people who might have stolen from public resources was not yielding any results because until now not even one person from the previous regime had been convicted on corruption charges.
Ms. Imboela said that the government needed to move on and start on a new page that would focus on serving the people of Zambia rather than taking time on past mistakes that had proven not to be beneficial so far.
“In any new job you can blame someone else in the first few weeks but afterwards it’s your job, it’s your problem,” she said.
She said that UPND needed to start implementing what was in their manifesto by putting in policies that were going to benefit the people of Zambia because complaining was not going to benefit anyone.
Ms. Imboela said UPND seem to be clueless on how the government is run because by now they would have started to work and forgot about the issue of blaming.
