SOME senior members of the UPND have allegedly hired some Non-Governmental Organisations and individuals to push for the lifting of former President Edgar Lungu’s immunity, Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma has charged.

Okay the campaign to lift Mr Lungu’s immunity.
In an interview, Mr Musoma claimed that some people in the UPND were paying some NGOs to champion calls to lift the immunity of Mr Lungu.
“There is a plot by the UPND who have paid some NGOs and individuals to push that agenda which is very unfortunate,” he said.
He also said that the suggestion by Economic Front (EF) President Wynter Kabimba that the immunity of sitting presidents needed to be removed to ensure transparency meant well but indicated that Zambia was not ready.
Mr Musoma said that the political landscape in Zambia and countries like Britain was different and if the clause was removed the President would not have time to work but only focus on court cases.
He said that Zambians were not very mature politically and removing the immunity clause would just trigger chaos.
“Our forefathers knew that there would be chaos if the immunity was not granted because in the Zambian political arena the president would not have time to work because more than 10, 000 people would be taking him to court,” Mr Musoma said.
