Police recover stolen cosmetics in Kapiri Mposhi

Police in Kapiri Mposhi district in Central province have recovered 2,108 boxes of assorted cosmetics worth K620, 000.
Central Province Police Commanding Officer, Donald Mwandila, confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Kabwe yesterday and said the consignment was part of the 3,020 boxes that went missing between Nakonde and Kabwe.
Mr. Mwandila said police officers received a tip off from members of the public and moved in to recover part of the stolen items in Kapiri Mposhi’s Glass area where they were concealed in a warehouse.
He said officers were led by the suspect identified as David Chibuye, a clearing agent, to the warehouse of the transporter.
He disclosed that the suspect has been released on police bond and was scheduled to appear in court t while recovered items are being kept at a sourced storage facility in Kapiri Mposhi as exhibits.
Mr. Mwandila explained that on January 5, 2022, Kabwe Central Police Station received a report of theft of goods in transit which occurred between November 2021 and the first week of January 2022.
He added that the report was tendered by Mustufa Yanus Delawala aged 43, of Indian origin residing at plot number 192 off Chilimbulu road in Lusaka, to the effect that his 3,020 assorted cosmetics were stolen aboard a truck registration number AJE 3460, ABT 5131T valued at K780, 000. – ZANIS
