SOBER UP, UPND ALLIANCE MEMBER ADVISES PF

…as he charges that the PF had not shown any change so far

By JOHN KOMBE

BE sober in your rebranding process,  an  NDC leader in the UPND Alliance has advised the Patriotic Front (PF), arguing that they had not shown any resolve to discard the arrogance that booted them out of power.

In an interview, UPND aligned NDC national mobilisaion chairman, Joseph Kasonde said that the PF must be sincere and discard the arrogance that made them lose the August 12, 2021 polls.

He said that the PF had not shown any signs of change so far.

Mr Kasonde said that the arrogance being exhibited by the PF was not helping in the rebranding process.

He observed that rebuilding takes a long time and as such the PF must not be in a hurry to see immediate results.

Mr Kasonde said that the former ruling party was suffocating itself with a lot of objectives which could not be attained at the same time.

He said that the best the party would do is to first rebrand before they start claiming that they would bounce back in 2026.

He pointed out that the preoccupation of the PF right now was getting back into power which was not resonating with reality.

He said that the PF were being idealistic forgetting that the people who rejected them also had their own reasoning and would not go back to a party that was not showing any signs of rebranding.

He wondered how the PF could be claiming victory in 2026 when they were currently entangled in internal fights over the party presidency.

He advised the former ruling party to first put its house in order before thinking of  coming back into power.

Mr. Kasonde observed that the recent careless public statements against President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND by its leaders was a sign that the PF was still bitter about the loss.

He said that this was not the time for bitterness as the 2021 elections were history.

He therefore advised the PF to accept the status-quo and move on.

Mr. Kasonde said that this would help the party to make well-informed decisions on the way forward.
