A suspected scammer also known as “Boss of the big boys club” who was nabbed for multiple Cyber related financial crimes, for allegedly impersonating people on various social media platforms through advertising fake products online, has appeared in court.
Paul Kawewe aged 21, of Mtendere compound, today appeared in the Lusaka magistrate court before Changa Chitabwo who adjourned the matter to today for a Lozi interpreter as the accused informed the court that he was unable to understand any other language.
Upon hearing the statement, the Court said it needed an interpreter and adjourned the matter to tomorrow for commencement of trial.
Kawewe is charged with obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 309 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and Personation Contrary to Section 378 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
The suspect together with his friend have allegedly been impersonating various business houses and people that they sell various products online when in fact not.
It is alleged on July 11, 2021 in Lusaka , Kawewe did falsely present himself as a businessman and owner of the company namely CHANDA BRIAN, an online business operating on Facebook selling shoes and clothes, when infact not.
And on the second count it is alleged that on November, 2021 , he allegedly did obtain K3,500.00 cash from Musama Mwaba by pretending that he had an iPhone for sale when in fact not.
