THE interaction between President Hakainde Hichilema and former President Edgar Lungu should be encouraged as it is a symbol of unity, the Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) has said.
ICOZ President Bishop David Masupa said seeing the two presidents interacting will eventually trickle down even to their supporters who seem to be in conflict all the time.
Bishop Masupa said there is need for the two leaders to engage each other more often beyond national events like state funerals as it is cardinal to the country’s democracy.
He said this will lead to healing and reconciliation among political players as some people are still grieving over the outcome of the August 2021 general elections.
Bishop Masupa also said the friendship that was exhibited by the two leaders should not just be for the cameras but should show even in their actions.
