Indecent amount of money being declared shocking, says Lubinda

By KETRA KALUNGA

THE indecent amount of money in assets that is being declared by cabinet ministers are shocking and they make a mockery of the pursuits of the true assets that are held by PF members, acting PF President Given Lubinda has said.

And Mr. Lubinda said the PF through its Members of Parliament would interrogate the new bill meat to penalise anyone that blocks the President’s motorcade because when this happened to former President Edgar Lungu putting his life in danger, people were unhappy.

Mr. Lubinda has challenged  the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to verify the shocking assets that the UPND ministers, some of whom were civil servants, have declared failure to which the whole fight against corruption would be a mockery.

He said at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the recent declaration of asset by cabinet ministers raise a number of fundamental questions and illustrated the lack of seriousness on the fight against corruption by the UPND administration.

Mr. Lubinda wondered how a former first lady, Easter Lungu having been first lady for seven years was being pursued owning 15 flats when some cabinet ministers who not long ago where civil servants have acquired so much wealth in just a few money of being in government.

“If some people in this country having worked as civil servants have stinking worth how can anybody imagine the former first lady would be pursued over owning 15 flats? If some people can say I have a farm worth K60 million then you pursue the former first lady for owning 15 plots?” he said.
