CONTROLLING officers should ensure that benchmarks spelt out under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and World Bank’s Development Policy Operation (DPO) Credit facilities are met.

The successful implementation of the key benchmarks set out under the IMF and World Bank programmes are cardinal to Zambia achieving its macroeconomic targets.

Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa said this during the sensitisation forum for controlling officers on the IMF ECF and World Bank DPO in Lusaka yesterday.

Mr Kangwa stated that the approval of the IMF ECF was a key milestone to Zambia’s economic recovery and development.

“We have organised this orientation workshop to explain what these two arrangements imply to Zambia and the roles that you must play in ensuring the success of the programme,” Mr Kangwa said.

Ministry of Finance and National Development Permanent Secretary for Economic Management, Mukuli Chikuba said an IMF staff was expected to in Zambia at the end of this month.

Mr Chikuba explained that the IMF team would be in Zambia to assess what Government had done at the end of this year and how the economy was performing.
