PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed private media houses should be considered for business by government in order to create jobs in the media sector.
President Hichilema said government should do business with all citizens including private media houses and create opportunities for them.
Mr Hichilema said it was hard to explain why private media should not get business from the government because Zambia belongs to everyone.
He also said private media should always be included on all presidential trips and engagements because presidential assignments were not a preserve of the public media only.
Mr Hichilema said this when he met media owners at statehouse yesterday to discuss various matters affecting the media industry.
