Stop disrespecting ECL, says students’ bodies

…Levy Mwanawasa Medical School, UNZASU appeal to UPND government to stop harassing, disrespecting former President Lungu

STUDENT’s union bodies have called on the UPND political leaders to stop insulting and disrespecting former republican President Edgar Lungu because he served the Zambian government diligently.

The students from Levy Mwanawasa School of Medicine, the University of Zambia Student Union (UNZASU) have called on the current leadership to stop harassing and disrespecting former President Lungu because he served the country with due diligence.

The student bodies have also welcomed the suspension of Patriotic Front (PF) aspiring presidential candidate Miles Sampa from the party for putting the name of the president in disrepute

The students said it was unfortunate that some leaders had resorted in disrespecting the former head of state despite him doing a lot for Zambians.

Said that Mr Lungu had done a lot for the people of Zambia and that some sentiments made by some opposition leaders lived much to be desired.

One of the student leaders Evans Mwamba during a combined press briefing with leaders from other universities said they were worried because the head of stake had been constantly attacked for no apparent reason.

“We owe Mr Lungu a lot and it is unfortunate that people can just wake up and start insulting him just like that,” Mr Mwamba said.

The students called on the PF to organise itself because the country needed a formidable opposition to give proper checks and balances to the UPND.
