POWER Dynamos have opened a 10-point lead at the summit of the MTN/FAZ Super League table after thrashing Chambishi FC 3-1 in a Week-29 MTN/FAZ Super League fixture played at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

A first half brace From Andy Boyeli and Joshua Mutale’s second half strike was what Power Dynamos needed to redeem themselves from two consecutive stalemates.

Power were determined to take advantage of Muza FC and Green Buffaloes defeats on Saturday and dominated play from the first whistle.

The Mwenya Chipepo-drilled Kitwe giants came close to finding the back of the net in the second minute but Chambishi goalkeeper Portifer Nyirenda made a superb save to deny the home team.

Chambishi had their own chances with the first one coming in the sixth minute when Patrick Farahani tried his luck with a shot which went straight into the palms of Lawrence Mulenga.

A minute later, Boyeli was fouled in Chambishi’s half by Joseph Chomba before Mulambia saw his effort being blocked for a corner.

Power continued to dictate play and almost went ahead three minutes before the half hour mark as defender Luka Chamanga tried to beat Nyirenda with a free kick which was blocked.

A minute after the half hour mark, Boyeli found the back of the net for the hosts after benefitting from Joshua Mutale’s assist.

Chambishi’s attempt to get the equaliser in the 33rd minute saw goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga producing a fine save them from scoring from a free kick.

In injury time of the first half, Boyeli completed his brace with a fine finish after Frederick Mulambia’s assist.

In the first minute of the second half, Mwenya Chipepo introduced Laurent Muma for Captain Linos Makwaza and two minutes later Mutale tripled Power Dynamos lead with a sublime finish from another Mulambia assist.

Mathews Simbeye scored the consolation goal for Chambishi FC in the dying minutes of the second half but it was not enough to inspire a comeback as Power Dynamos claimed a crucial 3-1 win.

The win propelled Power to 55 points, ten points ahead of second and third-placed Napsa Stars and Green Buffaloes who are on par with 45 points.

Meanwhile, Kansanshi Dynamos were rewarded a walk over victory after relegated Buildcon who failed to travel for the Week-29 fixture in Solwezi.

Kansanshi Dynamos who will face Zanaco in their next Super League fixture are on 11th position on the log with 39 points collected from nine wins, 12 draws and eight defeats.
