‘I’M A FIRE FIGHTER’: says Wada in bid to save Zanaco from relegation

SENSATIONAL Zanaco FC coach Wedson Nyirenda says he will add the fire fighter badge to his CV after stabilising the situation at the club which was destined for relegation from the FAZ Super League.

Before he was unveiled as Zanaco head coach to replace axed Kelvin Kaindu and Emmanuel Amunike, Zanaco had endured an eight-game winless run, a situation which had put the club’s hopes of surviving relegation in limbo.

However, since his return to Sunset Stadium for a third stint as head gaffer, Nyirenda has redeemed the club’s fighting spirit with two wins and one stalemate in the last three games.

In his first four matches, Wada recorded only one defeat which was a 3-2 away loss to Ndola giants Zesco United.

After the loss in Ndola, Wada guided the Bankers to a 1-0 win over Kansanshi Dynamos before the goalless draw against Kabwe Warriors.

In the last fixture, Zanaco humiliated relegation bound Buildcon 4-0 and propelled to 13th on the Super League table with 41 points.

The win over Buildcon increased Zanaco’s hopes of surviving relegation as they are now six points above the relegation zone with two games remaining to wrap up the domestic league.

“We are on the right track. The game against Buildcon was the most important one. The next game we are going to be playing MUZA will not be easy and another one at home against Buffaloes will not be easy but those are games that our players come to the party. We will do well,” Nyirenda said.

“I will add another star to my CV of now becoming a fire brigade for football teams. I think I will make it like I have done every time, Winning the leagues, winning the trophies and now saving the team from relegation which is not something easy. It is huge and it is so stressful,” he said.

He noted the need for his charges to improve on their finishing going into the last two fixtures against giant killers FC MUZA and Green Buffaloes.

Zanaco only need a draw in the last two games against MUZA and Green Buffaloes to finish ahead of Nchanga Rangers and Nkwazi whon are on 36 and 35 points respectively.
