PRESIDENT-Hakainde-Hichilema-and-former-President-Edgar-Chagwa-Lungu-bump-fists-during-the-State-Funeral-for-the-Fourth-Republican-President-Rupiah-Bwezani-Banda

THE brutal force with which the Zambia Police raided former President Edgar Lungu’s residence was meant to embarrass and humiliate the former head of State and should be strongly condemned by all Zambians, Brian Mundubile has charged.

And Mr Mundubile says the UPND has lamentably failed to deliver on their promises and have resorted to using intimidation and harassment to silence the voices of the majority Zambians who are acutely disappointed by the President Hakainde Hichilema administration. Mr Mundubile, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament says he was joining the voices of many Zambians including that of the Catholic Church in condemning the barbaric manner in which the Zambia Police invaded the residence of former President Lungu in search of the former First Lady Esther Lungu.

Mr Mundubilie, the Patriotic Front (PF) presidential candidate said if the Zambia Police were investigating any case against the former First Lady, there was a more credible and respectful way in which they could have conducted their search than sending a battalion of police officers in armored vehicles.

He said President Hichilema should not forget that he was not the first head of State but the seventh and that Zambians Dr Kenneth Kaunda under the one party state but had resisted to be put under for a long time. “It was embarrassing and shameful that the government would want to humiliate former President Lungu in the manner they did. If they had any case they were investigating against the former First Lady, they certainly could have done so in a more credible and respectful manner without causing the unnecessary drama. If you saw the equipment with the tankers and the armed police officers, it was all about intimidating former President Lungu. In their limited wisdom, the UPND administration and President Hichilema think that by using force, they can silence citizens with critical voices,” Mr Mundubile said.

Mr Mundubile, the PF Mporokoso Member of Parliament said the UPND administration had completely failed to deliver on most of its promises and were resorting to harassment and intimidation to govern the country.

“There is a huge lack of seriousness in the presidium and the head of State and this is a source of concern. President Hichilema is not reflecting a positive outlook and it is not inspiring Zambians. We have a head of State who is not giving confidence to the people being governed,” Mr. Mundubile said.
