AGS ATTRACTS K47M FOR SMEs

Accelerated Growth for Small and Medium Enterprises In Zambia (AGS) team leader Gareth Evans has said the AGS programme has attracted investment of about K47 million, a clear indication that the future of SMEs is promising.

In an interview, Mr. Evans said the organisation with the support of Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Development and the embassy of Finland is working hard to ensure the growth of SMEs in Zambia.

He said that to upscale investment opportunities for Zambian SMEs, the organisation is working with the Business Support Providers Association of Zambia to help SMEs grow and embark of solid job creation.

Mr. Evans added that, AGS has supported over 400 businesses in building capacity and being positioned for investment opportunities and trade within and outside the country.

He said the opportunities the organisation has created for SMEs has translated into creation of over 600 new jobs and trade with the Democratic Republic of Congo of over US$25 million.

Mr. Evans adds that with such strides being made, the sector has the potential to grow and contribute to high revenue generation in the country.

“As an organisation we are working tirelessly to ensure that we help the SMEs for them to grow.

When there is significant growth for SMEs it will have a positive impact on the economy,” he said.
