By MICHAEL MIYOBA

CITY of Lusaka Football Club has called on Konkola Blades and Mufulira Wanderes to practice fair play and not engage in match fixing in their final National Division one fixture which will determine who wins promotion to the Super League between City of Lusaka and Mufulira Wanderers.

The National Division One League ends on Sunday with Yamoto, who are fifth on the log with 53 points needing a win in their final fixture and hope that promoted Konkola Blades will beat “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers in the final game to be part of the four teams that will play Super League football next season. City of Lusaka FC vice chairman, Justin Zulu said Yamoto’s chances of winning promotion are still open if Konkola Blades can put up a spirited fight against Wanderers.

“Our chances of winning promotion are still open if at all we play an open game and teams practice fair play. Mighty are playing Konkola Blades, if that game will be televised it will be good and we are also playing Kafue Celtics who are not a push over and we know that it will be a tough game,” Zulu said.

“The league has been exciting because we can see national division one is not a league which is porous, it is a league you have to play up to the last whistle and the FA has done well to ensure that competition is at a higher level. Nowadays we don’t have match fixing and we pray that’s how it will be up to the final day,” he said.

Zulu said he was proud of the progress made by Slawomir Cisakowski-tutored Yamoto who have been fighting hard to return to the Super League.

He urged Yamoto fans to stay calm and give the team the needed support to bounce back to the Super League. Asked if Yamoto was ready to compete in the Super League if it wins promotion, Zulu said; “The team we have is a combination of the young and old players and we know the young players are maturing to become better stars of tomorrow and we are ready to compete in the Super League because we have what it takes to compete.”
