He said initial investigations revealed that the bus hit into the passenger train bearing number M22.
Mr Mwale said Police officers were currently at the scene of the accident and that the state of the passengers on both the train and the bus was yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile Mpika Member of Parliament Mwansa Kapyanga said he regretted the tragic accident which occurred at the Kabuka railway crossing involving a Likili bus and a TAZARA passenger train.
He said regrettably, an unconfirmed number of lives have been lost, and several individuals had been injured.
“Our thoughts and solidarity are with the affected individuals and their families during this difficult time. Let us stand together as a community, offering support and solidarity to those affected by this tragic incident,” he said.
