GOVERNMENT has encouraged cooperatives to provide similar products to partner as this will help to increase the financial base thereby enhance production.

Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Permanent Secretary, Subeta Mutelo, however said when cooperatives merge it will empower more people by spreading the resources as opposed to empowering a few.
She also commended the cooperatives for their business ventures and further advised them to look into adding value to products.
The permanent secretary said the cooperatives will be able to realise the full potential of the products when then embrace value addition.
Ms Mutelo was speaking on Thursday when she met some cooperatives in Ndola.
The PS paid impromptu visit on cooperatives and SME’S to find out how they were using the funds they accessed.
“You should always strive to abide by the laws as you carry out your businesses to avoid getting into conflict with law enforcement agencies,” she said.
She said avoiding getting into conflict with the law and always doing the right thing helps not only promoting the growth of the businesses but also improve the productivity of the country.
