Warriors lie in wait for Zanaco

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER two consecutive defeats to Kansanshi Dynamos and Green Eagles, Kabwe Warriors will today seek redemption when they host Sensational Zanaco FC in a Week-13 MTN Zambia Super League clash at the Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.

Warriors, led by former Sensational Zanaco FC coach Numba Mumamba will fight for maximum points to return to the top four on the Super League ladder.

The match promises sparks as Zanaco will aim to maintain their perfect run after the 1-0 win over Kansanshi Dynamos before the international break.

For Mumamba who has transformed Warriors from relegation fighters to title contenders,  today’s match against his former employers is not going to be an easy match for his side.

However, the gaffer believes Warriors have done their home work as they seek to bounce back to winning ways.

“The game will be a very crucial game for us looking at where we are coming from. We dropped six points which is not good for us considering our ambitions, we want to play ABSA so the two games have been a very bad set back for us but I think we have done our home work especially during the week when we had a break,” Mumamba said.

“We had to work on the mistakes we noticed and improve on them so that we can get a good result against Zanaco,” he said.

Warriors who have conceded three goals in the last two matches will need to come up with a perfect plan to stop the striking partnership of Charles Zulu and Brian Mwila who have been in top form for the Bankers.

In the lunch time kick off at the Godfrey Chitalu Stadium, coach Lameck Banda will begin his reign as Prison Leopards coach with a date against “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers who are unbeaten in the last four matches with two wins and two draws.

Prison Leopards will need a win to escape the relegation zone while Wanderers will fight for maximum points to consolidate their position on the Super League table where they are seventh with 19 points.

Meanwhile, defending champions Power Dynamos will welcome FC Muza in what should be an explosive match at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Muza will want to bounce back to winning ways after struggling with one defeat and one draw in the last two matches.

At Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka, High Flying Nkwazi FC will seek to protect their four-game winning streak when they face a Trident FC side that is still searching for its first win of the season while rejuvenated Green Eagles will host struggling Napsa Stars at Independence in Choma.

Former Power coach Mwenya Chipepo begins life as Forest Ranger when the Ndola outfit visit Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe for a date with Konkola Blades.

Tomorrow, the big game of the week will see Ndola giants Zesco United and Nkana locking horns in a clash of titans at Trade Fair Grounds.

Kansanshi Dynamos will host the league leaders Red Arrows at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola while Green Buffaloes will attempt to dim Mutondo Stars at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
