Persons with disability appeal for hygiene materials for cholera prevention

By NATION REPORTER

THE Youth in Action for Disability Inclusion in Zambia (YADIZ) has appealed to government to make available necessities such as chlorine and soaps available to people with disabilities in the wake of the Cholera epidemic.

YADIZ executive director Ian Banda says the organization is alive to the fact that people with disabilities are very vulnerable to contracting cholera.

Mr Banda said persons with disabilities have barriers when it comes to access to information and some of them cannot afford to buy necessities.

He said it is also imperative that the government should make information accessible by people with disabilities.

Mr Banda said this was because some people with disabilities may not be able to access information when it was distributed in forms such as text messaging.
