LUSAKA magistrate, Sylvia Munyinya has set March 28, 2024 as date she will deliver judgement in a matter former Home Affairs Minister, Stephen Kampyongo was sued for failure to pay for the supply and printing of assorted political campaign materials for the former ruling Patriotic Front (PF) during the 2021 elections.
In this matter, Ziger Limited being represented by its managing director, Mr Gerald Zimba, alleges that Kampyongo through a verbal agreement engaged them to print the said materials for which he paid some money, leaving a balance of K80, 000.
And in his defence, Kampyongo told the court that the PF party management is the one responsible for any party campaign materials and not him as an individual.
When the matter came up yesterday for his defence, Kampyongo explained that he only heard from Mr Zimba a year after the elections in 2022, when he claimed that there were some materials which were not paid for.
And upon enquiry from the complainant, Kampyongo said he discovered that Mr Zimba was dealing with PF youth secretary Stephen Kengula over the supply of materials. He also found that Kengula was acting for another party youth, who was adopted as PF candidate for Mpika Central constituency, Francis Kapyanga.
Kampyongo explained that he also contacted Kapyanga who confirmed having received a consignment of printed t-shirts.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
