THE Socialist Party (SP) Youth League has called on the UPND to tame their deputy national youth chairperson, Trevor Mwiinde, accusing him of abusing his position ahead of next year’s Petauke by-election.
SP youth league national secretary Stanley Mub’asa has criticised Mr Mwiinde for allegedly provoking people under the guise of police protection.
Mr Mub’asa cautioned that power was temporary and urged leaders to exercise restraint and treat others with respect.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mub’asa criticised the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the UPND government, accusing them of failing to address corruption effectively.
He claimed that under UPND, Zambia has witnessed “scandal after scandal,” eroding public confidence in the government’s ability to fight corruption.
Mr. Mub’asa questioned why the ACC has failed to reveal the identities of ministers allegedly involved in corruption, including the Solicitor General.
He also alleged that the ACC has become an entity aimed at protecting UPND officials rather than prosecuting corruption cases.
“We are still waiting for answers on these scandals, including the $80 million Zesco sent to China amidst ongoing load-shedding,” Mr Mub’asa said.
Mr. Mub’asa also raised concerns about the Sugilite scandal, pointing out that former Luapula Province Minister Derricky Chilundika has yet to be prosecuted.
He questioned the government’s commitment to accountability, citing the case of former Health Minister Sylvia Masebo, who was transferred to the Ministry of Lands instead of being dismissed following allegations of corruption.
