THE Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia (CGA Zambia) has welcomed Team Zambia back home following an uninspiring campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
At the British Commonwealth games, Zambia secured two bronze medals through boxers Catherine Mwape and Emmanuel Katema, out of 22 athletes.
The delegation arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Tuesday to a “warm reception” led by National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia vice-president Nakaonga Kakoma, NOCZ Treasurer Victor Banda, Deputy British High Commissioner to Zambia, Jason Tran and National Sports Council of Zambia Director Sombwa Musunsa.
Welcoming the team, Kakoma, in a message delivered on behalf of President Alfred Foloko, congratulated the athletes for representing the country on the Commonwealth stage.
According to NOCZ media, Foloko commended the athletes for their dedication, discipline and commitment throughout the Games.
He encouraged athletes that did not return home with medals not to be discouraged, as they remain national heroes whose efforts have inspired the country.
