‘TRUE GREENS’ PLAN TO DESTABILISE RULING PARTY, TAKE OVER POWER

By Bennie Mundando

A NEW PF splinter political party calling itself the “True Greens” has been formed and is set for registration soon.

It is comprised of disgruntled members whose aim is to weaken the current PF structures and leadership by promoting confusion with the sole purpose of taking over the party.

It also has plans to launch a serious recruitment campaign for members from the present PF in its insidious scheme to destroy the ruling party.

The True Greens, sponsored by an opposition party, are also scheduled to launch their own newspaper to help in their propaganda endeavours.

Once embedded  into the mainstream PF leadership, the ‘‘True Greens‘’ would then work to oust the current leadership and if they fail the party will be launched as a full-fledged political party and recruit its members from disgruntled members of the ruling party.

Disclosing this yesterday, National Revolution Party (NRP) leader Cozmo Mumba has given those involved one week ultimatum to apologise to the PF or he will expose them.

Dr Mumba claimed to have detailed information of their dark corner meetings and their plans to bring down the old PF and usurp power.

Dr. Mumba said a series of meetings have been held over the past month and that it was agreed that a ‘‘nonentity’’ and outside PF structures, should be put as caretaker president as the group launched full rebellion in the PF, knowing that there was another party they could simply run to should the revolt boomerang on them.

He claimed that at its last meeting on Saturday at Hillview Hotel in Lusaka’s Makeni area, it was agreed that sto bring discontent within the PF, huge sums of money should be sourced and disbursed to engineer a countrywide campaign against the ruling party by non-PF members so that its scheme could not easily be unearthed. He said the prime targets in the scheme are Finance Minister Felix Mutati, Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya and Copperbelt Provincial Minister Bowman Lusambo whom they have branded as ‘‘aliens’’ who joined PF to take away jobs meant for them.

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo is another target of the group as he had allegedly held them at bay by intimidating them using the police.

Said Dr Mumba: “There is a group of people calling itself the PF ‘True Greens’ who have been having dark corner meetings to strategize on how they can bring confusion in the PF so that they can take up leadership roles and has now agreed to register a political party using someone who is not in the PF.

‘‘That party is supposed to be registered this week so that operations can start immediately.

“Their primary target is to fight Mr. Mutati, Ms. Siliya and Mr. Lusambo on account that they came to hijack the PF yet they are MMD members while Mr. Kampyongo is another target because he is making their plans to destabilise the party difficult by using police to intimidate them.

‘‘In an event that they are expelled from PF, their plan is to go back to this party and assume leadership roles,” Dr. Mumba said. And Dr. Mumba has given those involved one week in which to apologise to the PF or he will expose them as he claimed to have all the information about their plans.

“I know everything. I would have gone to the lodge on Saturday because I had all the information about their meeting but I decided not to. I am giving them one week to apologise to the PF for what they are doing or I will have no option but to expose them,” he said.
