THE Mambwe- Lungu Royal Establishment in Northern Province has pledged to support President Edgar Lungu’s leadership and management of the affairs of the State.

Chief’s representative Nimrod Siluyele told the Daily Nation that the Mambwe-Lungu Chiefs recognised President Lungu as the only legitimately elected President.

“As Mambwe- Lungu people, we believe in serving the government of the day, therefore we want to register that we fully support and recognise the Presidency of President Edgar Lungu,” Mr Siluyele said.

He also praised the President for his continued efforts in promoting oneness among Zambians.

“We fully support the one Zambia one Nation Policy being championed by the President and we pray that he keeps on preaching about it,” he said.

And Mr Siluyela has thanked President Lungu for the infrastructure projects taking place across the country.

He said Northern Province and the Mambwe-Lungu people were beneficiaries of some of the ongoing infrastructure developments.

He cited the construction of township roads, the upgrading of Mpulungu harbour, proposed civil aviation facilities construction at Samora Machael Airport and the construction of government offices in Senga Hill district as some of the projects taking place in the province.

Mr Siluyela noted that the completion of these projects would mitigate many of the challenges and hindrances that the people of Northern Province were facing with regard to agriculture development and other economic activities, including tourism for which the area had immense potential.

“Their Royal Highnesses and Mambwe – Lungu people are thankful to the President for the considerable effort and progress that continues to be made towards infrastructure development in the country and we have benefited from this.
