By BENNIE MUNDANDO

COPPERBELT Province Minister Bowman Lusambo still needs protection against some disgruntled individuals who think the PF owes them dividends for having been part of its campaign trail in 2016 because these are the same people who have been causing confusion in the background, Reverend Moses Lungu has observed.

Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Rev. Lungu warned of “wolfs in sheep’s skin” in the PF in the province who were trying to hold the party at ransom as though they were the factors that earned its victory in last year’s election and wanted to be treated as a special grouping.

He said there was need for the PF to be very careful in the manner it was handling its affairs on the Copperbelt before it reached a point of make-or-break brought about by individuals who were wallowing in the valley of self-importance as that had disastrous effects if not checked.

He said while the differences that rocked Ndola not long ago seemed to have subsided, there were simmering bickering on the ground as those who were not doing anything were fighting against those who had been appointed to various positions in Government.

“There are people within the PF on the Copperbelt who are still behaving like they are owed by the party despite President Edgar Lungu’s repeated calls for peace and unity and reminding party faithfuls that all members were important. There are people who still have the Chishimba Kambwili mentality of thinking they have done so much for the party and therefore, they are owed.

“Not long ago, we had that hullaballoo in Ndola and right now, people think everything has ended but there are people who are creating problems on the ground and one of the targets is Mr. Lusambo and no matter what the party doers, they will never work with him because they believe he does not deserve to be Provincial Minister because he is new in PF and that is why authorities will have to protect him,” Rev. Lungu said.

He said it was the duty of the church to facilitate for peace, national and intra-party democracy and unity and challenged other church groups not to wait until things got out of hand but provide counsel to all political players without taking sides.

“Our organisation, the Evangelical Youth Alliance, will not shy away from preaching peace among our political players, be it at national or party level because differences by political players affect all of us as members of the community and my challenge to other church groups is to ensure that they speak boldly against social evils that may affect the running of this country,” he said.
