THE proposed dialogue between President Edgar Lungu and UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema will help the nation to heal from the numerous atrocities that had rocked the country, United National Independence Party deputy secretary-general Alfred Banda has observed.

Rev Banda said that the proposed dialogue between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema was a welcome move.  He said in an interview that reconciliation between the two would help the country to heal.

Rev Banda however said that dialogue should be extended to other political players because many were still at loggerheads with each other. He said that dialogue and reconciliation between all political players was imperative for the country to forge ahead.

Rev Banda reiterated that even other political parties were affected by the combat between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema.

“The proposed dialogue between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema is a welcome move. But for dialogue to be complete, it must be extended to other political players because many were affected and the country needs to heal,” he said.

Rev Banda said that people should not worry whether the proposed dialogue would be facilitated by a non-Zambian.

He reiterated that what was important, was for peace to reign in the country so that people could heal.

Meanwhile, Rev Banda said that an all-inclusive dialogue would help all political parties to resolve their grievances.

He stressed the need to revise the Pubic Order Act and that there were many other pertinent issues that still needed to be addressed to smoothen the political scene in Zambia.

“We feel the Pubic Order Act should be revised, and it’s from the same proposed dialogue that these issues can be addressed. Some of our mobilisation meetings we have been undertaking across the country were stopped,” said Rev Banda.
