THE Church, the Commonwealth and all right thinking people who sympathised with UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema when he was incarcerated should be feeling ashamed that he has failed to take a process of dialogue and has instead taken a provocative stance, Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) Copperbelt Coordinator Poster Jumbe has said.

Mr Jumbe said it was an insult to the church, the Commonwealth and those who sympathised with Mr Hichilema to see that, instead of embracing dialogue, he has decided to dent the image of Zambia by spreading lies in foreign countries.

Speaking in an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Jumbe said Zambians expected to see dialogue between the opposition leader and President Lungu, but were surprised that Mr Hichilema had decided to gang up with some opposition leaders in South Africa to spread lies and make disparaging remarks about Zambia.

“Mr Hichilema’s media statements have not been in good taste and do not sound to be coming from one person who really wants dialogue,

“And if the church, the Commonwealth and other people who sympathised with him when he was incarcerated wanted to see dialogue between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema, they should counsel the opposition leader,” said Mr Jumbe

He said the concerned parties should counsel the UPND leader because it was an insult to them for the person they sympathised with, had not taken the path of dialogue.

Mr Jumbe also said AVAP was wondering why the UPND leader had decided to garner support from opposition and union leaders in South Africa, instead of talking to Zambians who were the electorate.

And Mr Jumbe has described as unfortunate the statement by UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma that the party or Mr Hichilema will not apologise for speaking ill about Zambia in South Africa.

He said such kind of statements were not good.
