…Kamanga tips chipolopolo to focus on Tunisia

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has urged the Chipolopolo to forget about their perfect start in the World Cup qualifiers following a 2-1 win over Mauritania and focus on beating Tunisia in an-other Group B Qatar World Cup qualifier slated for Tuesday in Ndola.
Kamanga who hailed the Chipolopolo for their perfect start said the next tie against Tunisia is a bigger assignment which requires the focus of all the players involved.
“We still have five games to go before we go to the second round. So, this is a good start. On Tuesday we are playing again, we should put this win behind us. It is already done and dusted, our minds should be the next 90 minutes on Tuesday, that is our target,” Kamanga said.
He said the absence of the English Premier League duo of Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu who have returned to Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively should inspire the other players to step up and represent the nation well against Tunisia.
“We will miss our colleagues, captain Enock Mwepu and Patson Daka but as a team we still have enough cover, and we just have to continue building,” he said.
“We still have games next month in October at home and we hope the issues of COVID will be resolved by then but whoever is part of the first eleven [against Tunisia] and those who are on the bench, just remember that we are all fighting for one cause which is to go to the World Cup for the first time.”
Mwepu and Daka could not travel to Ndola for the game against Tunisia because Zambia is in the Covid-19 red zone according to global ratings.
Kamanga however reaffirmed the FAZ executive’s full commitment to ensuring that Zambia achieves its mission of going to the World Cup for the first time.
