Kalulushi Council adopts K 120 Million budget

THE Kalulushi Municipal Council has adopted K119.843, 808.32 as its 2022 budget at a special Council meeting.
This represents an increment of 28% compared to the 2021 budget.
Council Finance, Valuation and Commercial Undertaking Committee Chairperson Moffat Zulu said the major sources of financing for the year 2022 would be generated from local taxes estimated at K69,622,387.44.
He said others would be generated from fees and charges projected at K3,569689.48, licences budgeted at K653,300, levies planned at K208,500, permits estimated at K722,950, land charges projected at K8,056,085, national support budgeted at K11,310,896.40 and local development estimated at K25,700,000.
Mr Zulu said the council anticipated to spend on solid waste management, fire services, paving of Luato market, installation and maintenance of streetlights, grass cutting, construction of market shelters and bus stops in the year 2022.
“The 2022 budget has also planned for the procurement of equipment such as water Bowser and front end loader as well as road maintenance in the district, sports and recreation, cemetery management, servicing of newly created plots, construction of ablution blocks at Sabina and at the play park among other services,” he said.
Mr Zulu added that in the year 2021, they council managed to achieve a number of successes which included increased revenue collection by 10% as compared to the year 2020, the acquisition of a brand new skip truck, purchase of a brand new tractor and trailor for refuse collection.
He said the council also constructed a market shelter at Pattersson, built a maternity wing in twaiteka ward and also constructed 2 culvert bridges and a road in Chifupa township among other notable achievements.
