…as Kansanshi Dynamos fail to slaughter Buffaloes

POWER Dynamos coach Mwenya Chipepo expressed displeasure with his team’s failure to bounce back to winning ways following a 1-1 draw against Sensational Zanaco FC in a Week-9 MTN Zambia Super League fixture played yesterday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
After scoring a second minute goal through captain Godfrey Ngwenya, who was eventually voted as man of the match, Power couldn’t stop the “Bankers” from scoring an early equaliser through Francis Mustafa.
Chipepo said after the match that he was disappointed that Power dropped two points at home after two consecutive defeats against Kabwe Warriors and Green Buffaloes.
“We are very disappointed. We should have at least picked the three points. Dropping two points at home is not good because we had lost two games in a row and today we were expecting good results. You look at the chances we created, we missed a lot of chances and we are not happy,” Chipepo said.
“We are not going to relax, we will keep on working hard and make sure that we work on the mistakes we made against Zanaco,” Chipepo said.
Power who are now seventh on the league with 13 points will face Red Arrows in Lusaka in the next fixture and Chipepo believes the game against the league leaders will be another tough test for the defending champions.
“Another tough game against Red Arrows, they are on top of their game and they are playing good football so we need to make sure that we prepare ourselves well,” Chipepo said.
For Zanaco coach Wedson Nyirenda, a point away from home by a team trying to rebuild with many youngsters wasn’t a bad result.
“We are building a new team and you can see a lot of youngsters in this team and I give it to them to come and stand and get a point from Power Dynamos, a team that had been losing two games in a trot it is not easy for them and we can only trust our process, it is looking good, the project is big and it shall be well,” Nyirenda said as his side moved to fifth with 14 points.
After conceding an early goal from Ngwenya, Zanaco grabbed their equaliser two minutes later through Mustafa who headed Charles Zulu’s cross into the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Kansanshi Dynamos picked their second consecutive draw after holding Green Buffaloes to a 1-1 stalemate at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
Midfielder John Kosamu struck late in the first stanza to cancel out Yannick Mulenda’s brilliant header from Yanganile Tembo’s corner kick four minutes before the break.
The stalemate propelled Buffaloes to ninth on the league table with 12 points, three points ahead of Kansanshi who are 13th with nine points.
