FRED M’membe is irrelevant and his continued manoeuvres to gain some relevance on the political scene will hit a snag because of his dwindled personal integrity, opposition party leaders have said.

The political leaders have advised Mr M’membe to stop propagating evil schemes through his acquainted media organisations.

New Congress Party (NCP) president Peter Chanda advised Mr M’membe to stop demoralising the Zambian people because he has many issues of personal integrity he must explain.

“Mr M’membe should explain the Zambian Airways collapse and the loan of US$5.5 million which was procured from Development Bank of Zambia and the Intermarket Bank. He has not yet explained the tax evasion scandal but is busy pretending to be a saint,” Mr Chanda said.

Citizens Democratic Party president, Robert Mwanza said Mr M’membe would never be relevant because his integrity was tarnished to the core.

“He is just wasting his time. All those efforts to become relevant are in vain,” he said.

And former MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has now challenged the Socialist Party leader, Mr M’membe to stop abusing the media to cause a stir in the nation.

He observed that Mr M’membe had been using his acquainted media organisations to attack and frustrate innocent citizens and also illegally campaigning.

Maj Kachingwe said it was wrong for Mr M’membe to maintain his position of always wanting to throw out the parties in government.

He said in as much as citizens were free to give their opinions on certain matters, people needed not to spread the word of destruction.

“Constructive criticism is better than destructive because with destructive criticism, nothing comes out of it apart from destroying,” he said.

Maj Kachingwe also said that the trend created unfair opportunities for the citizens as they would be broken down.

He noted that the economy may not be performing well at the moment but that it was also important that people explained and appreciated the good things the government had done.

Maj Kachingwe observed that Mr M’membe was using his media organisations to bring the government down, a situation he said should not be allowed.

He observed that it was unfair for government to always receive bad comments when it had done a lot of things worth commending.

Maj Kachingwe said it was high time people especially the opposition political parties saw things on the positive side unlike always being negative.
