PREMIER Futsal League (PFL) winning coach Andrea Christoforetti says firing national soccer team coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic is not the solution because the Serbian needs more time to rebuild Chipolopolo.

“Micho” has been a subject of debate after Zambia was ejected from the African Nations Championship at the quarter final stage with some Chipolopolo fans calling for his dismissal.

Speaking when he featured on Bola Bet Sports Show, Christoforetti, an Italian born Futsal expert in charge of Automotive Futsal Academy said the trend of hiring and sacking coaches after a short period is not nice.

“Generally, people want to see instant results but you need time. Today in football and sports in general, results do count but the programme, and the work you need to achieve is very important.

“The national team is coming from a past where they haven’t been doing well but to rebuild something you need to work,” Christoforetti said.

“All I can do is wish him to work well with the best conditions and then after a few campaigns we can judge him,” Christoforetti said.

Meanwhile, Christoforetti said he is proud of his achievements and contributions in the development of futsal in Zambia.

The former national futsal team assistant coach who has won the last three editions of the PFL title with Automotive Futsal Academy however noted that there is more work to be done to develop futsal in Africa.

Christoforetti said the PFL has recorded success but there is need for people to take the sport not as a social game but as a professional game with a lot of experts.

The PFL enters week-13 this weekend with defending champions Automotive set to take on Livingstone Pirates while Kabwe K-Line are scheduled to meet Kitwe Bullets.
