REPORTS that Government has procured Hydroxychloroquine for use in treatment of COVID 19 are fake, Ministry of Health Spokesperson Abel Kabalo has said.
Dr Kabalo said as far as the Ministry of Health was concerned, currently there was no cure for COVID 19, and advised the public not to take serious any report or suggestions outside the official communication from the ministry.
“As far as the Ministry of Health is concerned, there is currently no cure for coronavirus so it’s really hard for us as Ministry to respond to such social media rumours otherwise all communication surrounding what is being done about COVID 19 shau be done through the daily updates by the Minister,” he said.
Dr Kabalo said the Ministry of Health was above board and was doing everything within its mandate to ensure that the virus was eliminated and stopped from spreading in the country.
Recently, reports of Government procuring Hydroxychloroquine intended for use in the treatment of coronavirus had emerged after USA president Donald Trump announced that America was going to use the drug to treat covid-19 patients.
But Dr Kabalo said all developments surrounding COVID 19 were going to be communicated to the nation through the daily national briefing by the Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya.
