INTERNATIONAL Zambian stars Patson Daka and Enock “Computer” Mwepu have called on their fans to stay safe and prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic by adhering to the guidelines laid out by the World Health Organisation in a bid to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Both Daka and Mwepu were enjoying a superb season for Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg before the coronavirus pandemic brought the league to a halt.
The duo are regarded as genuine African stars on the rise after they featured more than 20 times for the Austrian champions who faced European giants Liverpool and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
Daka, who has scored 17 goals in 21 games in the Austrian league for Salzburg is confident the world will fight the Covid-19 pandemic if people adhere to the guidelines from health experts.
“It’s always darkest before dawn and we shall get through this if we work together and follow the instructions from the World Health Organisation (WHO). Let’s try by all means to practice social distancing to reduce the spread of Covid9,” Daka said.
And 22-year-old midfield genius Mwepu, who has made 27 appearances for Salzburg emphasised the need for fans to participate in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I want to urge everybody to stay safe, calm and healthy. It is up to us to participate to slow down the spread of this virus,” Mwepu says.
Mwepu and Daka who featured for NAPSA Stars and Power Dynamos in the Zambian league before moving to Europe, will hope to get back on the pitch as soon as possible to help Salzburg, which is second in the championship play-offs in Austria, four points behind LASK with eight games remaining in the season, if it can be completed.
