Mwila calls for peace

By SILUMESI MALUMO
ALL political parties need to sit on a round table to address violence which has ravaged the political circles, Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has said.

He said stakeholders should embrace peace as the country would be going towards 2021 general elections.
Mr Mwila said the political violence in the country was worrying and needed to be eradicated for the betterment of the Zambians.
“This issue of violence is a responsibility of all political parties, it’s not only the responsibility of PF alone, all the political parties must get involved. “We need to sit on the round table as political parties and deal with this matter once and for all. So us as a party in Government, we have continued to sensitising our people that next year we don’t expect issues of violence during campaigns,” he said.
Mr Mwila said the matter was serious and affected all the Zambians, the reason why the PF was taking steps to sensitive the people.
“We are very serious on this matter because many people are affected. We will not entertain any cadre that will be involved in the acts of violence. We have party officials who are appearing in court, all this shows that we do not shield anyone involved in violence,” he said.
Mr Mwila said challenged other political parties especially the UPND to eradicate violence and embrace peace.
“And our friends must manage their people that is more reason I am saying this issue must be sorted out collectively. All the political parties must sort out this matter,” he said.
He said people that were harassing innocent people using the name of the ruling must be reported to the police.
