Suspend comprehensive sexuality education – Kopulande

CHEMBE Member of Parliament Sébastian Kopulande has introduced a motion in parliament to suspend the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and allow for wide consultations from stakeholders.
Dr. Kopulande said offering Comprehensive Sexuality Education is against the Christian values of the country.
He said children are being taught the subject at an early age and that there is need for interrogation before the subject can continue.
Seconding the motion Chiengi Member of Parliament Given Katuta said there is need to scrutinize Comprehensive Sexuality Education to ensure it does not conflict with the country’s culture.
And Nominated Member of Parliament Raphael Nakachinda said he does not support the motion to suspend Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
Mr. Nakachinda however stated that consultations must go on.
Others who contributed to the debate include Chinsali Member of Parliament Kalalwe Mukosa and Kaputa Member of Parliament Maxas Ng’onga who did not support the motion but said the matter needs to be investigated
