Lungu hails Biden election

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has congratulated the President-elect of the United States of America, Joe Biden following his election as the 46th president of that country.
And President Lungu has donated K200, 000 to the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Chimwemwe congregation in Lusaka’s Mandevu area towards construction works at the church.
President Lungu described Mr. Biden’s election as a demonstration of the American people’s confidence in his ability to foster unity and increase socio-economic development, among other aspects outlined in his Restoration Plan.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Zambia, as well as on my own behalf, I wish to convey our heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of the United States of America,” President Lungu.
President Lungu said Zambia and USA enjoy strong relations that were based on mutual respect and benefit for its citizens.
This is contained in a statement issued by special assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Isaac Chipampe.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has donated K200, 000 to the UCZ Chimwemwe congregation to help with construction at the church.
President Lungu said together with the entire leadership of the PF, he remains delighted to be part of the noble task of delivering God’s work through the donation towards the completion of the dining hall, construction of a kitchen and the private room for the reverend at the request of the church.
The Head of State was represented at the Chimwemwe UCZ fundraising service yesterday by PF Secretary-General Davies Mwila who delivered the K200, 000 and an additional K10, 000 raised amongst PF officials towards the needs of the reverend.
“We believe very strongly that the Church and the State must work hand in hand in fostering development, peace and national unity” President Lungu said.
And Chimwemwe UCZ congregation Reverend Charles Kafunda expressed gratitude to President Lungu for the donation.
