By PETER SICHALI

I WILL contest as Member of Parliament (MP) in the 2021 general elections on a PF ticket if adopted, former State house Minister Mulenga Sata has declared.

Mr Sata has meanwhile expressed confidence that President Edgar Lungu would scoop the 2021 elections.

He said he had been approached by several stakeholders to contest as MP in Lusaka and other constituencies outside the city.

“Intend to stand having been approached by stakeholders in several constituencies in Lusaka, I am currently weighing my options,” Mr Sata said.

Mr Sata said he would make a decision which seat to contest at an appropriate time.

He said some places needed reinforcement than others and would opt to go such a constituency guided by the party leadership.

“The greater interest of the party is at stake and there are some places that need more reinforcement than others,” Mr Sata said.

He was confident that President Lungu would emerge winner in the 2021 general elections because the party had delivered development across the country.

Mr Sata said Government had performed well despite the shocks brought about by climate change and Covid-19.

“We cannot control external shocks such as climate change and the current Covid-19 pandemic. The best we can do is to mitigate and make adjustments as we shall do in our next term of office,” he said.

Mr Sata said the opposition would not have any chance of forming Government because Zambians were happy with the ruling party’s development agenda.

“PF and ECL are winning the 2021 elections. We have done tremendously in terms of infrastructure development across the country and that what Zambian’s voted for,” Mr Sata said.

Mr Sata who is also PF National Mobilisation Committee member however said the PF would not be complacent but continue campaigning vigorously.

“We cannot afford to be complacent. We still need to campaign vigorously to ensure that we retain all of our seats and gain a foothold in opposition strongholds,” Mr Sata said.
