PRIVATISATION of state assets at the hands of Hakainde Hichilema and his team left hundreds of people miserable, the reason why Zambians cannot give him chance to dupe them again, the Patriotic Front (PF) has said.

PF Lusaka Province Secretary, Kennedy Kamba, said Mr Hichilema, should realise that Zambians were not gullible to trust him again after what he did during privatisation.

Mr Kamba told the Daily Nation yesterday that Zambia could have been a different country by now if Mr Hichilema and his selfish team did not undervalue the mining assets at the time of privatisation.

“They say once bitten, twice shy.  The fact is Mr Hakainde Hichilema caused the suffering of many Zambians when he got the mandate to value the assets of the mines during the privatisation process and undervalued the assets.  He can never be given chance to kill this country twice,” Mr Kamba said.

On ZCCM-IH taking absolute ownership of Mopani Copper Mines, Mr Kamba said Zambians were capable of running the mine, adding that Zambians were tired of being cheated by foreign investors in the mining sector. He said Zambians under ZCCM-IH were willing to redeem the mines through investment and mining development to make them viable again.

“Zambians are proud of President Edgar Lungu because he moves with them, their feelings and their thoughts unlike Mr Hichilema who always thinks about selling assets like he did in the late 90s and early 2000.

“Mr Hichilema only thinks about foreigners and foreign concepts as a means of development. It’s all selfishness and nothing else. Zambia will be developed by Zambians and not anybody else,” Mr Kamba said.
