ALL registered voters should ensure that they vote in the August 12 general elections, President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu said this during a meeting with headmen from Kanchibiya yesterday.

He commended the people of Kanchibiya for registering to vote enmasse.

He commended the people of Kanchibiya for registering to vote enmasse.

President Lungu however urged the electorate to ensure that they exercise their right to vote.

“I am happy that you people registered en masse, please ensure that you vote,” he said.

And during a meeting with Chief Luchembe, Senior Chief Kopa, Chief Kabinga and Chief Mpepo earlier, President Lungu requested the traditional leaders to name officials who were not working, saying that those failing to execute their duties would be chucked out.

This follows a complaint from the chiefs that some challenges which were promised to be sorted out when the President previously visited the area had still not been done.

The chiefs through their representative, Chief Luchembe said some roads and other infrastructure projects which were promised had still not been fulfilled.

President Lungu however assured the traditional leaders that he would follow up with the relevant authorities responsible.

Meanwhile, President Lungu said Government was striving to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

He said when businesses thrive, they were able to pay necessary taxes to the Zambia Revenue Authority which the State uses to provide services to citizens.
