A JEALOUS man is appearing in the Choma Fast Track Court for Gender Based Violence on allegations of strangling his ex-wife after learning that she was seeing another man following their divorce.
In this matter, Nchimunya Lumang’ombe, 34 of Namwala is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that on December 20, 2020 in Choma, Lumang’ombe assaulted Ms Koviness Silucha and thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
According to the victim, Lumang’ombe assaulted her whilst she was in the fields. She said when he approached her, he uttered words that “she would not see the sun set on that day” before he brutally beat and strangled her neck before she escaped.
Ms Silucha, who was wearing a neck collar and has been referred to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka for specialised treatment informed the court that the two divorced.
Her evidence was backed by her mother when she also testified on how she found her daughter lying on the ground after the alleged assault and insisted before the court that there was no marriage between the two..
But earlier when Lumang’ombe took plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, he stated that the two fought after he found his wife committing adultery.
