Chief Registrar of Societies Clement Muhammed Andeleki yesterday quit his position to serve the country at another level, barely 24 hours after refuting speculations of his leaving the office.
Mr. Andeleki who is expected to be Minister of Home Affairs after winning the Livingstone by-election said his decision to resign from his position was simply to enable him serve the nation at another level.
Andeleki who was arrested together with President Michael Sata and Vice-President Dr. Guy Scott for defaming late President Mwanawasa is expected to present his application for the Livingstone seat which he has been assured to win.
Mr. Andeleki as the Registrar was involved in the attempt to de-register the former ruling party MMD.
