…don’t mock the poor
By Aaron Chiyanzo
MOCKING the poor whom you claim to represent is the worst form of uncouth conduct that can ever be exhibited by a former cabinet minister and Member of Parliament, former UPND vice president for politics Canisius Banda has told expelled PF member Chishimba Kambwili.
Dr Banda also said it was wrong to insult women in the manner that Mr Kambwili had attacked Information and Broadcasting minister Mulenga Kampamba.
Dr Banda charged that Mr Kambwili ought to be reminded that mocking President Edgar Lungu about his poverty, reflected very poorly on him.
He reiterated that mocking the poor was the worst form of uncouth conduct that could ever be exhibited by a former cabinet minister and Member of Parliament.
Dr Banda warned that just like all things puffed up, Mr Kambwili would deflate, and that he risked being used as a glaring example of what gory calamities befall such people.
He said in an interview with the Daily Nation that the Roan constituency lawmaker should desist from pouring scorn on the poor.
Dr Banda said that pouring scorn on the poor subtracted Mr Kambwili from being recognized as a human being and community leader.
“He must quickly desist from pouring scorn on the poor for soon God could use him as a glaring example of what gory calamities befall such people. So for now let us all carefully watch this man. He makes for interesting drama and study. It is clear that he has so much pent-up energy in him. He should be allowed his constitutional space to vent. And just like all things puffed up, soon he will deflate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Banda advised that Mr Kambwili should for now be ignored as he was free to sit down or stand, run or walk, and to be silent or to speak.
He however emphasized that it was only when his behaviour begun to endanger the lives of others, that people should then appropriately sanction him, and perhaps put him aside for storage, in defence of public safety.
Dr Banda reiterated that it was merely showing signs of a human being that was still alive and is badly hurt and squirming for Mr Kambwili to continue yapping.
He said that Mr Kambwili should be included in the October national prayers and that his surveillance file should remain a priority and very active as he was a subject of national concern.
And Dr Banda charged that it was wrong for Mr Kambwili to insult chief government spokesperson, Kampamba Mulenga, adding that he had lost all women on that one.
